Welcome

I started this blog in 2010 when there were 11 weeks to go before my next Ironman triathlon. People have found it interesting (mainly my Mum!) so I continue to write.
The Ironman is a long distance triathlon; Swim 2.4miles, Cycle 112miles, Run 26.2 miles (marathon). I have competed in one every year since 2004. I hope this blog can help others see what is involved. I find the process of writing it makes me more accountable and motivates me to do the harder sessions when i'm not feeling like it!

Run

9km down to the M25 and back. Very wonky hip stuff going on - great that I could do it though. Seems to get very slightly better each run - such a shame though I used to love the feeling of flow when running.

Rollers 60min

Lot on this weekend starting today - got this in before breakfast for the supposed fat burning

Drive down to Chesington for a weekend for families with children that have George's disability (Cri du Chat). The 2hr 45min drive took 6hours - mainly traffic and toilet stops! If I could train properly (hip etc) I wouldn't have the time anyway.

Swim

620m x 4 on 30sec rest (easy pace) = 2.5km

Keen to up the distance a bit. Some left shoulder tightness - I'm starting to think after this race that i'm going to drop the distances and speed and aim for longevity.

Brick 60min rollers 5km run

I'm starting to like the brick sessions (Bike run) I'm more warmed up for the run which seems to mean I have less problems.

I had planned to swim - went down there but there's a gala on. Seems to be a constant battle with something or other to get the training in.

Away with work in Birmingham all day, zonked out & England game to watch. Became more energetic as warmed up.

Big work week for me this week. No junior staff between 5 and 8pm so not home till late. Only time to get a quick bike in.

Monday weigh in same as last week I think. Anymore to go, don't know.

Rollers 45min

Ella at dragon boat race all day. Looking after the kids - played in the garden tent and ate strawberries from the vegetable patch - sounds fun but full on. Not much left for training.
