Welcome

I started this blog in 2010 when there were 11 weeks to go before my next Ironman triathlon. People have found it interesting (mainly my Mum!) so I continue to write.
The Ironman is a long distance triathlon; Swim 2.4miles, Cycle 112miles, Run 26.2 miles (marathon). I have competed in one every year since 2004. I hope this blog can help others see what is involved. I find the process of writing it makes me more accountable and motivates me to do the harder sessions when i'm not feeling like it!

No time to exercise as out to dinner with friends and Will's birthday

Thursday 15 May 2014

Swim

700m warm up and drill
Main set 5 x 250m on 30 sec at 65 strokes a minute
Cool down

Added one more set this week - the aim is to add one a week now building up to about 10 sets = 2.5km

Tuesday 13 May 2014

Brick session
30mins rollers
30mins run

My best run yet - great as motivation is hard to maintain with my hip problems

Monday 12 May 2014

Weigh in 70.7kg

Swim

Warm up 330m
Single arm 330m
Main - 4 x 250m on 30 sec at 65 strokes a minute - this rate now feels comfortable - maybe I should start moving towards 70/min?

Bike - rollers

Had planned to go out with the tri club but ran out of time.
2 hours as 8x15min
I really feel like this is undoing some of the imbalances i've developed by doing too much turbo work. My current thinking is that i've shortened my right psoas - I certainly have pain there when I try to adopt a more symmetrical position. More will be revealed.
